Halloween / Birthday Bake-Off

National Baking Week is nearly upon us (14 – 20th Oct) so in light of that fact, I thought it was high time to practise a bit of kitchen magic with one of my favourite Neat Ideas products – Bake It Personal. It’s mainly my favourite because it makes me look like I know what I’m doing even when I don’t. I’m hoping this effect hasn’t worn off yet!

It’s my brother’s birthday on Halloween – which has always been very fitting – and he’s partial to the odd biscuit or ten so I thought a little Halloween Cookie Project was in order. Now the nights are pulling in, I like a bit of a project, especially when the telly’s rubbish.

However, the heart and star cutters that come with Bake It Personal aren’t that scary so it’s time to get imaginative with the shapes. How about… Upside Heart Ghosts, Open Coffin Rectangles and Evil Star Creatures?! I’m quite pleased with those if I do say so myself!

BIP Halloween

If anyone can think of anything else Halloween-related you can make out of these shapes – let me know. Of course, these are just the designs – actually making them is always a different story (particularly where I’m concerned) but I’ll give them a go and let you know how they turn out. I might even try to get technical with a bit of food colouring, although the last time I tried that, everything did come out an unfetching shade of brown… Nice.

Any other Halloween gift ideas would be gratefully appreciated – you tend to run out of ideas after 31 Halloween Birthdays!
